Half Moon Bay Review

The Coastside’s newspaper since 1905, now digital-only, covering the coast from Pacifica to the Santa Cruz County line.

Harry E. Griffiths, a former editor of the Concord Transcript, started the Review in May 1905. Over the years it was owned by a succession of publishers, including George E. Dunn, who bought it in 1917 and was one of the forces behind the Pillar Point breakwater, the coast highway and the incorporation of Half Moon Bay.

Edward and Marjorie Bauer published it for 26 years from 1960. Wick Communications bought it in 1986, and in 2018 a group of community members formed the Coastside News Group and bought it. The Review printed a broadsheet every Wednesday until 2024, when it went digital-only.

Dunn also ran the Coastside Comet, started the Pacifica Tribune and created the Pescadero Pebble, which was eventually merged into the Review.
