Pillar Point Bluff lies between Princeton-by-the-Sea and Moss Beach, just north of the Pillar Point peninsula, harbor and Half Moon Bay. It once belonged to the Rancho Corral de Tierra land grant. The Peninsula Open Space Trust bought the land in parcels between 2004 and 2008 to protect it from development and sold it to the county as a park in 2011.
Trails for hiking, running, horseback riding, cycling and on-leash dog walking wind through coastal scrub and coastal terrace prairie, with views of wetlands, farms, Montara Mountain, the bay and the Mavericks break. In season you can see wildflowers and gray and humpback whales.
The threatened California red-legged frog lives there, along with other rare species. The park is part of the California Coastal Trail.
